Frequently asked Questions

• Is check in after 8pm allowed?

  • Yes! Flathead Lake Hostel is mostly self Check-in / Check-out, we are usually not available after 8pm as we have 4 kids and are doing the bedtime routine after 8. Be sure to check your confirmation email for Door codes and let us know before 8 if you have any questions.

• Are Pets Allowed?

  • Service animals are always welcome; unfortunately pets are not allowed in the main Hostel. The Perch Cabin is pet friendly with a $40 extra stay cost and liability signed for any damage caused.

• Can we add an additional person to our room or sleep on the floor?

  • No. Our max occupancy for each room is dictated by the Health department and our insurance. We cannont allow additional guest over occupancy. Max for Queen rooms is 2 guest, Bunkrooms, 2 Guests, and The Perch is 5 guests.

• Cancellation Policy?

  • Within 15 days of reservation, a 50% refund minus a $20 service fee. Within 7 days there is no refund issued. This is also found during booking on our booking service page. We are happy to adjust the dates or move the reservation, but your new dates ( if changed within the 15 or 7 days window) will not be able to be refunded fully and will follow existing cancellation policy.

• Do we offer work Co-op or long term stays?

  • Yes! Mostly during fall/winter/spring season and subject to availability. Prices vary.

• Do we have laundry on site?

  • Not at this time, though there is a laundromat in Lakeside MT ( appx 2 miles away) located adjacent to the Spinnaker Bar.

• Military and Senior Discount?

  • Yes, Josh is a DV that retired from the Army in 2024, we are happy to offer a discount. Look for it on the drop down while checking rate availability.

• How far are we from Glacier National Park and Glacier International Airport?

  • We are appx 50 miles or 1 hour drive from Glacier National Park West Enterance. We are 15 miles or 20 Min from the airport.

• UBER / LIFT / Taxi?

  • There is limited UBER and Taxi service in the valley. We recommend Billy with Lakeside Taxi.

• Do the Rooms have their own bathroom?

  • No. While all rooms are private to you and your party, the common spaces, bathrooms, shower room, kitchenette and lobby are all shared spaces.

• Can Children stay; do they count toward occupancy limit in room?

  • Yes! If kids and parents understand the common areas are shared, and feel comfortable with quiet times, then we are happy to host them with an accompanied adult. We dont reccomend the hostel for small children simply due to noise concerns and shared areas, though older kids usually really enjoy their stay. Yes, children count toward occupancy, they are people too!
